White Lodging Internship Information
White Lodging Internships

White Lodging adheres to a philosophy of continuous improvement through learning and training. We know that the most successful leaders are those who have a thorough understanding of hotel operations as a whole, and every role within the operation.

The White Lodging Internship Program has been specifically developed for hospitality students interested in gaining first hand knowledge of the industry. This program is offered to students from both within the United States and around the world.

U.S. Internship Overview


This program provides the eager intern with hands-on operational experience as well as an understanding of White Lodging culture. The program is conducted over a 12-week period during which the intern must complete weekly assignments while working in various positions. While positions are available throughout the calendar year, interns are most prevalent during the summer months.

White Lodging Internship 101

Introduction to WLS Operations
  • Prerequisite: basic knowledge of customer service skills
  • Introduction to technical tasks & operational skills
  • Participation in daily processes and procedures

White Lodging Internship 201

Supervisory Development
  • Prerequisite: Successful completion of Internship 101 (in same department)
  • Introduction to supervisory skills and techniques

White Lodging Internship 301

Lessons In Leadership
  • Prerequisite: Successful completion of Internship 201 (in same department)
  • Introduction to management and leadership skills
  • Comprehend the components of the Balanced Score Card

Internships can be completed in one or more departments within the operation: Front Desk, Sales, Housekeeping, Banquets, Restaurant and Culinary. Students who successfully complete a second and / or third internship are eligible for a bonus of $500. All interested candidates must interview with Human Resources or a local White Lodging representative.


International Internship Overview


This program is available year-round to international students entering the hospitality industry or already enrolled in a related degree program. Based on the length of stay, trainees are rotated through multiple job positions within two to four departments. Depending on performance, some exposure to supervisory responsibilities may also be incorporated. Some sample rotations are as follows:

Select Service
  • Rotate through Front Desk, Housekeeping, and Maintenance
  • Positions may include front desk clerk, night audit, housekeeper, laundry attendant, breakfast attendant and maintenance technician
Full Service – Rooms Division
  • Rotate through Front Desk, Housekeeping, Guest Services, and At Your Service
  • Positions may include front desk representative, reservations attendant, night audit, concierge, bell staff, and hotel telephone coordinator

Full Service – Food & Beverage Division

  • Rotate through Restaurant, Lounge/Bar, Banquets, and Room Service
  • Positions may include host/hostess, server, dining room attendant, bar attendant, banquet server, banquet room setup, room service operator/cashier and room service server

White Lodging will provide the following:

  • Meet & greet at the airport
  • Temporary housing upon arrival
  • Assistance with finding housing
  • Average work week of 35-40 hours
  • Paid holidays and time off
